In its wicked style, Pakistan has sent special “Eid” greetings to India by firing from automatic weapons and shelling mortars on Indian posts along the LoC in Rajouri , J&K. The unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan was retaliated strongly and effectively by the Indian troops.
Interestingly, earlier in the day, the Border guarding forces from both sides exchanged sweets on the International Border in Jammu to mark Eid-ul- Fitr, which marks conclusion of the fasting month of Ramzan.
In areas along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, a weird silence prevailed during the day as the people celebrated the holy festival of Eid. These are the same areas which have witnessed at least twenty ceasefire violations, an attack by Pakistan Special Forces team and two infiltration bids in June, in which four people including three jawans were killed, died and 10 were injured.
Same areas have seen another ceasefire violation by the Pakistan troops last night also. According to the statement given by a Defence spokesman, “The Pakistani Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing from small arms and automatic weapons and shelling of mortar along the LoC in Bhimbher Gali (BG) sector in Rajouri district from 2015 hours.”
He further added, “The Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively.”
It is also reported that a jawan was also injured in back-to-back ceasefire violations by the Pakistani Army yesterday.
The army sources said, “The Pakistani Army breached the truce thrice by firing small arms and shelling mortars on army posts along the LoC in the Rajouri and Poonch sectors. The Indian side fired back in retaliation.”
