1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict died

Mustafa Dossa, the chief conspirator of 1993 Mumbai blasts died due to cardiac arrest, a day after CBI sought death penalty for him at special TADA court. Mustafa Dossa was one of those convicted who wanted to take revenge for the Babri Masjid demolition and the Bombay riots that followed thereafter.

Reportedly, Dossa was rushed to the JJ Hospital last night at 3.00 am by the authorities of Arthur Road jail after the complained of chest pain. According to the dean of the hospital Dr T.P. Lahane, “Dossa was admitted to the Critical Care Unit. He had high grade fever and a history of high blood pressure and diabetes and was diagnosed with a chest infection.”

Earlier,on May 16,Dossa and five others were condemned by the Special Terrorist And Disruptive Activities court. Judge G.A. Sanap said in his order that those convicted wanted to take reprisal for the Barbri Masjid demolition and the Bombay riots that followed thereafter.He said, “They conspired to kill Hindus and Hindu leaders.”

Special Public Prosecutor Deepak Salvi had told the court, “Dossa was one of the brains behind the conspiracy and his degree of responsibility towards the commission of the crime was the highest. If it was not for him and the absconding accused the crime would have never taken place.”

In a serial bomb blast on 12th March, 1993, at least 257 people were killed and many others were injured.

Mustafa Ahmed Umar Dossa alias Mustafa Majnu was extradited from UAE and acted to achieve the object of a conspiracy hatched in Dubai to take revenge for the demolition of the Babri Masjid, for which arms and ammunition were sent to India.

It is reported that the body of Dossa will be released to his family for burial after completing inquest and the postmortem procedure.
